We can all have bad days. Days when we feel less than average and nothing seems to be going right. Or perhaps we just wake up on the wrong side of the bed and from the get go we feel a little overwhelmed and stressed out.
There’s lots of clever tricks and tips that can help you lift your mood and sometimes the simplest of fixes can help turn your frown upside down. Of course its totally ok to have these less than average days (we all have them after all) but if you struggle to get back to a happy place after a day of feeling down you can try one of these quick fixes:
1. Chat to a loved one. Confiding in a best friend, family member or someone else you trust about what is keeping you from feeling well can really help take a load off and make you feel better again. There truly is no need to suffer alone.
2. Get out in the great outdoors and move your body. A daily dose of exercise can help stimulate endorphins in your body, triggering positive, happy feelings. Add that to some fresh air, glorious sunshine and Mother Nature, you really do have a reason to smile.
3. Listen to your favourite music or a motivating Podcast. Listening to a favourite song or an uplifting Podcast can help keep your mind in the present moment and not on the thoughts that are keeping you feeling down. It has also been shown that music can help release our feel good hormone dopamine and might just put a smile on your face and get you grooving around your kitchen or bedroom floor!
4. Get out a notebook and journal it down. Writing out your thoughts and feelings can help get those negative feelings out of your mind and can often feel like a load has been taken off your shoulders. Another idea for your journal is to start a gratitude journal noting down all the things you are grateful for each day. This helps you to start to realise just how many amazing things you have going on in your life and when done regularly will start you on a much more positive mindset.
