Emotions if left unchecked can take hold of you faster than Easter eggs come on to supermarket shelves just after Christmas….
Seriously though, when you set your goals whether it’s giving up drinking, exercise more, lose weight, spend more time on yourself etc, if you are not checking in with your emotions when they present themselves you can easily give up and put your goals into the too hard basket.
Emotion 1 Sadness:
Don’t try and push it down and ignore it as this will only make you sick. This is an emotion that needs to be recognised. Not to be covered up with- ‘I’ll be Ok, this will pass, I’ll just distract myself by drinking alcohol, going shopping or eating that piece of cake’.
Invite it in and simply cry it out while asking why this sadness has presented itself not letting your mind chatter into invent things.
Go within and sit with your sadness inviting in your deepest connection with Divine source, the Universe, your Angels ( whoever you talk to in your quiet moment of wanting love and support). Take deep breaths and allow your body to heal.
Emotion 2 Anger:
This emotion takes up so much of your valuable energy and happiness. You have this internal fight that will drain you. While being angry you will more than likely tighten every part of your body, have shallow breaths and overall feel tense. Remember energy has to flow freely through you and when your all tied up in a knot your’e not doing your body any favours.
Recognise what made you angry and is it really worth all the effort and energy to keep hold of this anger. Go for a walk, take deep breaths and send yourself and others (if you feel they made you angry) compassion. (BTW no one can make you angry if you decide not to play into it) Just saying……
Emotion 3 Fear:
What is fear to you right now? We all fear something and then build on it till it becomes overwhelming and can quite quickly take over your thoughts.
Fear of not being successful, fear of not being liked, fear of failure, fear of being late for an event the list goes on for all of us…..But why do we fear? Mainly because things are out of OUR control….we can plan, and have great intention’s, however at the end of the day our fears will hold us back. Allow yourself to fail. At least you tried. Allow yourself to be late, it’s ok if there was a traffic jam.. nothing you can do about that..Right?
Living in fear will prevent you from allowing true happiness in to your life. Have faith that all will work out and let fear turn to possibilities.
Life is a journey and is happeing right now….tap into your emotions they are real, honour them and then release them. Don’t let them reside within you. Take deep breaths, feel it, see it and give thanks to them while releasing all emotions that are not for your highest good.
